Great Canadian Gateway‘s Canada Immigration Services
Canada’s immigration system can be broken down into three main categories:
- Family Sponsorship – spouses, common-law partners, children, parents, and grandparents are eligible to join family members (Canadian citizens or permanent residents) already in Canada. This is the second largest group admitted to Canada year after year due to Canada’s belief in the importance of family reunification.
- Economic Immigrants – This category represents the largest group of immigrants admitted to Canada. Acceptance is mainly credited to their skills and ability to contribute to the economy of Canada. Skilled workers, caregivers, qualified foreign students (including PhD students) and foreign workers, provincial nominee applicants, and business immigrants are some examples of those that fall under this broad category
- Refugees and Others – This category has the least number of immigrant intake and is an option reserved for those in need of protection which cannot be availed from their country of origin and/or citizenship. This category includes both humanitarian resettlement programs and claims for asylum protection
Temporary residents also play a vital role in Canada immigration. Students who wish to attain Canadian education are welcome to Canada. After graduating, more avenues are available to them to become permanent residents and then citizens. Learn more.
Foreign workers are presently going be needed more than ever in the coming years to come due to the large aging Canadian population.
